What is a black hole?

Supermassive black holes, containing millions or billions of times the mass of our Sun, exist at the centre of most large galaxies, including our own Milky Way. In 2019, scientists released the first ever image of a black hole’s shadow.
What is the payload of a rocket?
The payload is the cargo a rocket carries into space — the thing the rocket exists to deliver. Payloads include satellites, space probes, scientific instruments, supplies for the ISS, crew capsules, and commercial cargo. A rocket’s payload capacity (how much weight it can deliver to a given orbit) is one of its most important specifications. The payload typically sits at the top of the rocket, protected by a fairing (a nose cone) that is jettisoned once in space.
What happens during re-entry?
Re-entry occurs when a spacecraft descends from orbit back into Earth’s atmosphere. As the vehicle decelerates rapidly from orbital speed (around 28,000 km/h), air molecules compress and heat up enormously — reaching temperatures of 1,600°C or more. Spacecraft are protected by heat shields made of ablative or ceramic materials. Precise re-entry angles are critical: too shallow and the spacecraft bounces back into space; too steep and it burns up. Parachutes or retrorockets then slow the final descent.
What does ‘trajectory’ mean in space travel?
A trajectory is the exact path a spacecraft follows through space from launch to its destination. Space mission planners use gravity assists (flyby manoeuvres near planets) to change speed and direction without using extra fuel. What is the difference between a nebula and a galaxy?
A nebula is a cloud of gas and dust in space, often associated with the birth or death of stars.
