Frequently Asked Questions for Teachers

Are these ESL resources really free to use in the classroom?
Yes. Every game, activity, and worksheet on LexFizz is completely free. There is no subscription, no licence fee, and no limit on use. You can project games on a classroom screen, share direct links with students, or embed exercises on your school VLE — all at no cost.
Do students need to create accounts to use LexFizz games?
No. Students do not need accounts, email addresses, or passwords. Open any exercise page and it is ready to play immediately. This removes all GDPR and parental consent concerns and means you can use the tools spontaneously in any lesson.
How do I embed a LexFizz game in my school website or VLE?
Each exercise page has a Get Embed Code button that generates an iframe snippet. Copy and paste this code into your Moodle, Google Sites, WordPress, or any other platform that supports HTML iframes. The embedded game loads fully in the frame — no external links or pop-ups.
Which games work best for whole-class projection?
Hangman, Balloon Pop, Gameshow Quiz, and Group Sort work particularly well on a projector or interactive whiteboard because they are visually clear and students can call out answers or take turns at the front. The Multiple Choice Quiz is also excellent for competitive team rounds.
How can I find the right exercises for my students' CEFR level?
Use the English Level Test at /english-level-test/ to place students accurately, then browse games by level at /english-games/. All exercises support all six CEFR levels (A1–C2) with level-tagged content so you can filter activities appropriate for your class.
Can I use these activities as homework tasks?
Yes. Share any exercise URL directly with students — the page works on phones, tablets, and computers without any app installation. Because no account is required, students can start immediately. Consider sharing a specific exercise link via your class messaging platform or VLE.
Are there printable worksheets available?
Yes. The /worksheets/ section contains printable PDF worksheets aligned with the interactive exercises. Worksheets cover grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing tasks at A1–C2 levels — ideal as homework, class fillers, or assessment prep.
What does the English Level Test measure and how long does it take?
The English Level Test at /english-level-test/ covers vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension across all six CEFR levels. It takes 10–15 minutes and gives students an instant A1–C2 placement result. You can use it at the start of term to group students or before a new unit to gauge readiness.
Are there resources specifically for adult ESL learners?
Yes. The business English, IELTS vocabulary, and academic vocabulary sets in Flash Cards and the Quiz are designed with adult learners in mind. The blog also contains articles on business English phrases, IELTS preparation, and formal writing that work well as reading texts for adult classes.
How often is new content added to LexFizz?
New exercises, vocabulary decks, and blog articles are added regularly. The blog in particular is updated frequently with ESL teaching strategies, classroom activity ideas, and grammar and vocabulary guides that can double as reading lessons or discussion starters.
